Hi, Core Girl (Team Rider) Erin here….
The winter season officially kicked off the year with an early opening at Arapahoe Basin, Colorado and since then, resorts around the West have opened their lifts, trails, and terrain parks to many avid skiers and riders. But let’s not get too ahead of ourselves. Despite some of the earliest openings for Colorado resorts, the Rocky Mountains have been void of snow for a month now. Major resorts such as Vail, Park City, and Deer Valley have delayed their openings due to a lack of that fluffy white stuff. This La Nina year (or the impact of Global warming - depending on your views) is certainly causing many ski and ride activists to go a little stir crazy.
But let’s not get too down yet. On the flip side of the coin, with the roads remaining clear and dry, skateboarding and maybe even wakeboarding are still in open season. Or if you’ve been really wanting to perfect your terrain park skills, a dry pre-season is the perfect time to get on those rails and boxes. We all know though, that real winter will kick in soon enough and then we’ll all have our fix.
What do you think? And how are conditions in your area?
And it’s getting pretty darn cold (in Colorado at least), so hopefully ULLR is getting to work up there!

Yes… I want the Pow to come. It’s getting Colder in CO at least. For awhile it was way too hot for November. At least now the temp is dropping - and hopefully snow is on its way!
There is no snow in the C.O. - now the temp is freezing…too cold to go skate… with none of that fluffy stuff. I am getting cabin fever - skiing the same run over and over is only fun for awhile. Bases of 28″ or less ROCK! hahaha
Starting to snow on the East Coast…yay! But, still not enough, and CO isn’t looking much better. Parks are luckily holding their own, and Copper’s pipe opened! Woooo…but, until then just tramping and getting in shape…ready to rock it this season. Get stoked girls!
Utah is hurting. I am keeping busy dreaming of snowflakes and pow days to come…. yes I have total faith they will come!
No snow here in Md…but it’s rare here…some good snow hit in NW Pa…but nothing has decided to stick yet…
Whoo Hoo! Colorado finally got some snow today! real snow too… not just the .5 inches of late, but a whole 6-10 inches. If you other girls can, come out this way…
or to whistler. i hear they’ve been getting dumped
Whistler and Blackomb are getting SOOOO much snow. In the past 48 hours its snowed 22 cm. Come shred the pow!!
I am so jealous of Jill … I want to ski the pow. Right now in the CO - we got a few inches, but then it was super cold and windy - blowing off the snow and making conditions grizzly. I am still praising ULLR and bundling up in the mean time!!
Oh my…. we’re about to get dumped on!!!! Wahhhhh… so excited! Will let you know how it turns out. We’re supposed to get 2-4 FEEEEEEET! Bring it!
Ok - so no dumping action. The 2-4 feet was really 2-4 inches. Except for Wolf Creek- they made out all right. Still waiting…
Here’s the verdict on snow…. what came out of the last CO storm.
Winter Park - 12.5″
Loveland - 17″
Keystone - 6″
Copper - 12″
Vail - 9″ -32″
Let it snow let it snow let it snow!
