Just a little something on my mind. Lis and I were at a skateshop (that will remain nameless) the other day - and I went up to the counter to ask the guy something. He looked at me, paused, and five seconds later said - “Ummm…You Skate?” Like I was in the wrong country, speaking the wrong language. Ok, now mind you I was wearing a skirt and heels (but not stillettos or anything). But I am of the opinion that it is perfectly fine to be girlie and still skate. Then he went on to “quiz” me on the type of board I ride and all this stuff. It was like the inquisition - of disbelief. I guess the point is - that it is perfectly fine to be whoever we are and do whatever we want - skating or otherwise. Ya know? It’s not like we have to dress like the guys - just to skate. Anyway, that’s my two cents on the matter.

That has happened to me, too! I am def not girlie, but even still. It is funny, I think.
Whatevs. Just roll with it. Catch you girls at the park this weekend? Anyone heading out to Denver Skatepark?
Sadly, I don’t skate anymore. After 15 years of good luck (no broken bones) I had to hang it up. I sure do miss it, though. Few things beat the rush of ripping concrete skatepark.
Denvah - Fo Sho! I will be at the park on Sat. Hey Sk8Girl - wanna meet?
Hey Sk8Girl - the CAS girls might make it to the park - Sat poss. Not sure though! Will let you know. Maybe we all could meet up or something?
What’s the best skate spot for girls in the country? where do most girls skate? or is there one?
I totally agree, sk8r boys can be ‘kinda tough on us. But they are awesome when you show them that you can skate.
I think the best way to shut them up is to show your stuff. Hey I saw some great girlies sk8ing this weekend at the Denver park
Aliens…you’d think us gal skaters walked around wearing alien costumes… “look at me I’m a freak, treat me differently”. You’ll learn to get use to it and laugh at it all day long. Knowing that you’re a rare breed in this world should be enough to help you forget the crazy comments that will continue for years to come from silly boyz.
All you have to do is answer his questions with a question.
DUDE: How long have you been skateboarding?
GIRL: How long have you been skateboarding?
DUDE: Where do you skate?
GIRL: Where do you skate?
Then say, would you like my finger prints too??
hehehehe.
