So we Core girls went to Boardfest to check out the scene and the all-girls action sports and empowerment festival - over labor day weekend on the Huntington Beach Pier. With clinics, contests, concerts and exhibitions, we figured it was going to be a great, fun-filled and exciting fest! While the theory and philosophy behind the event is amazing - we were a bit disappointed at the turn out of people and the quality of the exhibitions.
The COOLEST part was by far the clinics - it was great seeing girls out there in huge groups learning to surf. The schedules were off so we continually missed the skate clinics and events because we tried following the schedule but nothing was going on as planned. We saw a couple of the bands play, but there were few spectators and it seemed like the masses at the beach were there for Labor Day weekend and not specifically for Boardfest. So, we were a little disappointed - and the exhibitors included Spam, not nearly the action sports exhibitors we expected to see… the closest thing to a women’s action sports company there was Damzl - a new energy drink for women. In theory the event is spectacular, but we were very disappointed in the results. Hopefully the event will catch on and more action sports companies will get involved - Etnies was involved with the clinic side of things and Go211.com sponsored the snowboard ramp. But all in all it seemed very disorganized. So - that said, we realize the event is fairly new (this was the 3rd or 4th year) - and women’s action sports is really generating a lot of momentum. We just hope this translates into a better event - that girls really will travel to and that more women and girls will know about! Were you there? The Surf clinic, put on by HB Wahine, was a great deal. $35 for a three hour surf lesson. The surf was a little difficult to learn on, but the ladies did a great job. Our family had girls ranging 5 to 30 somethin’ and all had a great time.
I agree about the vendors. Certainly they need to get the big girls action sports vendors involved. They have to get the traffic to get the vendors, but the traffic won’t come until they get the traffic. Another difficulty was the sweltering heat. One day was the hottest day of the summer and that probably hurt the traffic.
All in all it has a lot of potential to be a great event.
I was there. I thought it was pretty cool, but I kinda agree with what you are saying about the vendors and I wonder how they can take it to the next level. It seemed like a lot of hype to me at times.
I guess I heard through the Grapevine that Boardfest rocked it harder than S3 a couple weeks ago… interesting interesting.

- какую программу вы МОЖЕТЕ переделать под свой вкус?
- какая программа автоматически обновляет прокси / SOCKS, обеспечивая вам полную анонимность? (достаточно просто нажать ОДНУ кнопку)
- какая программа умеет рассылать персональные сообщения всем пользователям форумов phpBB, IPB, VBulletin?
- какая программа отсортирует Вашу базу ссылок по Google PageRank?
- какая программа МАССОВО отредактирует все Ваши ранее разосланные объявления по форумам?
- и при этом еще регулярно обновляется и совершенствуется.
